Make up class policy
Please notify me as soon as possible if your student will miss a class. During the school year/ school day please notify me via email at firstname.lastname@example.org
Refunds will not be issued for missed class time, instead there will be an Make-Up session after each 6-week session completes. This will be an opportunity for your child to come and make up missed work. Please look at the calendar and take a note of the Make-Up sew dates.
Because Sew Duluth has students in the area public, private and home-school attendance areas, an academic school calendar and break schedule is not followed. Sew Duluth will follow the inclement weather closings an advisories of the Duluth Public schools, since to the Sew Duluth studio falls within that location. Make-up classes due to inclement weather will be held during the scheduled Make-Up session. In the event Sew Duluth needs to cancel classes for any non-inclement weather event, families will be emailed and receive a phone call and a class session will be offered during the Make_Up session date.
Students enter a sewing course of 6 levels. All machines, irons, hot glue guns, thread, sewing supplies and patterns will be provided (until the student enters the Workshop level, then the student and Sew Duluth will work together to locate patterns and projects that inspire and challenge the student’s skill progression.) A materials fee will be added to each kit level. The students will progress through the levels and projects at their own pace. Once a student reaches the Workshop level, the student and Sew Duluth will work together on a materials fee (i.e. fabric may be purchased from Sew Duluth’s inventory or the student can purchase fabric and materials from an outside source- Fabric.com, or locally at Hannah Johnson’s Fabric (4511 E. Superior Street), Jo-Ann’s Fabric (5115 Burning Tree Rd.), Hobby Lobby (1734 Mall Drive) and Wal-Mart.
Pictures of current project options will be posted on social media, the Sew Duluth Facebook and website pages (as they change due to materials and seasonal inspiration!) Students may choose between 2-3 project options for each skill addressed and from the fabrics available.
